Z-axis calibration ensures your Lumii DLP printer’s build plate is level with the projection window, improving adhesion and print success.
Use an A4 sheet (0.07–0.10 mm thick) to complete the process.
Need a visual guide? Z-Axis Calibration is covered in this video on our Youtube Channel, along with other key steps. Refer to the Z-Axis Calibration section in the video for a step-by-step demonstration.
Before You Begin
Tools Needed:
- A4 paper (calibration reference) — slice a standard A4 sheet in half.
- Allen wrench (provided in the Lumii toolbox)
Lumii DLP Z-Axis Calibration
Prepare the Printer
- Plug in the power cord and switch on your Lumii printer.
- On the touch panel, go to Tools > Z-axis Control.
- Select the Z-Axis Calibration icon in the upper-left corner.
- Follow the on-screen instructions on the touch panel to complete the calibration process.
Remove the Resin Vat and Place the A4 Paper
- Remove the resin vat from the printer.
- Make sure the projection window is clean and free of any cured resin or debris.
- Place a piece of A4 paper flat on the projection window. This paper will serve as a spacer during calibration.
Install and Loosen the Building Plate
- Attach the building plate and tighten the knob securely.
- Using the provided Allen wrench, loosen the four screws on the sides of the building plate by turning them counterclockwise.
- Ensure that the building plate is loose and able to move freely.
Lower the Building Plate
- On the touch panel, tap Next.
- The building plate will automatically lower until it contacts the A4 paper on the projection window. Wait until the motion stops completely.
Apply Pressure and Tighten the Screws
- Gently press down on both sides of the build plate to ensure it sits flat and snug against the A4 paper.
- While maintaining pressure, gradually tighten the four screws in a diagonal (cross) pattern:
- For Example: Top-right > Bottom-left >Top-left > Bottom-right
- First, use the long end of the Allen wrench to tighten each screw.
- After all screws are tightened, switch to the short end of the Allen wrench and tighten them again to ensure they are fully secured.
Check & Finish Calibration
- Tug on all four corners of the A4 paper. If resistance is consistent, calibration is complete. If not, repeat the steps.
- Tap DONE on the touch panel.
- Wait for the build plate to retract, then remove the A4 paper.
