The mainboard serves as the central control unit of your 3D printer, managing the functions of key components like the LCD screen, LEDs, motors, and cooling fans. When it fails, the printer’s performance can be significantly affected.
Mainboard issues may arise over time due to causes such as electrical surges, physical impact, or general wear from prolonged use. When this happens, replacing the mainboard may be necessary to restore normal operation.
This guide will take you step-by-step through the mainboard replacement process for the Sonic LS+ printer. By carefully following the instructions, you'll be able to bring your printer back to working condition efficiently.
Before You Begin
Tools Needed:
- 2 mm allen wrench
- 2.5 mm allen wrench
Power Down and Prepare
- Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
- Place the printer on a flat, stable surface.
Removing the Front Cover

Use a 2 mm allen wrench to remove the M3x10 flat head screws.
- Lay down the printer.

Use a 2.5 mm allen wrench to remove the M3x6 socket head screws.
- Flip the printer up right and use the vacuum suction handle to remove the front cover.

Disconnect the front ① USB extension cable and the ② touch panel cable from the mainboard.
- Do not pull the ribbon cable directly. Flip the clip to unlock first.
- Remove the front cover.
Removing Cable and mainboard
- Disconnect the cables from the mainboard.
- Use a 2.5 mm allen wrench to remove the four corner screws securing the board.
- Once the screws are removed, you can take out the old mainboard.
Replace New Mainboard
To install the new mainboard, simply follow the above steps in reverse order.
