Is the LCD on your Sonic LS+ acting up? Before considering a costly repair, it's worth checking the LCD ribbon cable to see if the issue is simply a loose or poorly connected cable. This can happen if the pins of the cable have become loose or shifted out of place.
In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to reconnect the cables to ensure a solid connection between the LCD and the mainboard. By following these instructions, you can avoid common LCD-related issues and keep your printer running smoothly.
Reconnecting the LCD Cables
Power Down and Prepare
- Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
- Place the printer on a flat, stable surface
Tools Needed:
- 2 mm allen wrench
- 2.5 mm allen wrench
Removing the Front Cover
1. Use a 2 mm allen wrench to remove the ①② M3x12 flat head screws.
2. Lay down the printer.
3. Use a 2.5 mm allen wrench to remove the ①② M3x6 socket head screws.
4. Flip the printer up right and use the vacuum suction handle to remove the front cover.
5. Disconnect the front ① USB extension cable and the ② touch panel cable from the mainboard.
6. Do not pull the ribbon cable directly. Flip the clip to unlock first.
7. Remove the front cover.
Reseat the LCD Cables
1. Verify and reconnect one end of the LCD cable that is connected to the LCD.
2. Then verify and reconnect the other end of the LCD cable that is connected to the mainboard.
After Checking
1. Reassemble the Printer.
2. Insert the power cord and power on the printer.
3. Perform the LCD test.
Note: 1. When handling plugged-in equipment, ensure that your hands are dry and, if possible, wear insulation gloves, protective clothing, and shoes with insulated soles. 2. Wear the UV 400 safety goggles before conducting the LCD test.
Perform the LCD test to determine if the issue shows any improvement.
Mode 1: Light Up Entire LCD Screen
This is to make sure that the LCD screen lights up completely and that there are no black spots.
Mode 2: Light Up Entire LCD Screen
This is to make sure the LCD is showing the correct pattern.
Mode 3: Blackened LCD Screen
This is to make sure that there are no light spots and that the LCD screen is capable of covering up the light.
