If the touch panel on your Lumii printer becomes unresponsive or damaged, replacing it may be necessary to restore normal operation. This guide will walk you through the process of removing the old touch panel and installing a new one.
Before You Begin
Tools Needed:
- 2 mm Allen wrench
- 5 mm Allen wrench
Removing the Old Touch Panel
Power Down and Prepare
- Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
- Place the printer on a flat, stable surface.
Removing the Front and Back Case
- Use the 2 mm allen wrench to remove the screws on the side of the printer securing the front and back case.
- Then use the 5 mm allen wrench to remove the screws on top of the printer.
- Carefully remove both cases.
- After removing the cases, the printer should look like this:
Note: Please open the case of the printer slowly to avoid damaging the touch panel cable.
Disconnect Cables from the Mainboard
- Locate the touch panel ribbon cable connected to the mainboard.
- Carefully flip up the locking clip on the connector and disconnect the ribbon cable.
- Locate and unplug the USB extension cable from the mainboard.
Remove the Touch Panel Module
- After disconnecting both cables, the entire touch panel module is no longer connected to the printer.
- Carefully remove the module from the printer.
Installing the New Touch Panel Module
Install and Connect
- Position the new touch panel module on the front case.
- Reconnect the touch panel ribbon cable to the mainboard and lock the clip in place.
- Reconnect the USB extension cable to the mainboard.
Verify Functionality
Before reassembling the printer, we recommend confirming that the touch panel is functioning properly.
- Plug in the power cord and turn on the printer.
- Confirm the new touch panel is responsive and working correctly.
- Navigate through the menu to ensure full functionality.
Reassemble the Printer
- Once confirming the functionality. Carefully reinstall the front and back cases.
- Before closing the case, make sure both the touch panel ribbon cable and USB extension cable are routed through the Round Support Column.
- Tighten all screws using the 2 mm and 5 mm Allen wrenches.
